There are even 100 children in one class in an African school. The classroom is without windows and a ceiling, it blows and rains on the children or it is oppressively hot under the low roof. Five students are crammed into a desk for three, and the teacher has no chair at all. Children are hungry during the day and usually have nothing to drink. Schools struggle with both the lack of drinking and service water. The school lacks teachers, textbooks and aids, the teaching is austere and unimpressive, but still the children like to go to school. The school not only protects them from working all day in the fields, but also teaches them many vital habits that are not yet learned in rural families: from moral principles, proper hygiene, disease prevention to discipline, expressing oneself or forming an idea about the future. School Support: So That No School Is Left Behind
Not every rural Tanzanian school has a Czech partner. Thanks to long-term donors, some schools can already plan repairs, new desks, toilets, kitchens, water supplies or school lunches. Other schools are still waiting for that kind of support.

Bez mámy has been working in Tanzania since 2006 and supporting rural schools since 2009. Today, we work long-term with 17 schools in the Mbeya region. Our support reaches approximately 8,000–10,000 pupils and students.
Through this page, you can support schools that do not yet have enough donors — either with a one-off gift or a regular donation. Some schools have no Czech partner at all; others receive only partial support and do not reach the optimum amount of €2050 per year, which would allow them to plan larger repairs or further development.
What Your Gift Can Help Change
Donations through this page help schools with what they need most at any given time. This may include:
building new classrooms — one classroom costs approximately €7000,
repairing classrooms and toilets where it makes sense,
new desks — €60 for a desk for 3–4 pupils — blackboards — €165 — and basic classroom equipment,
toilets and better hygiene facilities,
wells — approximately €4100 — or rainwater harvesting tanks — €1200,
school kitchens and contributions towards cooks’ salaries,
teaching materials or sports equipment.

These are not random purchases. We know the schools personally, we return to them regularly, and together with local communities we discuss what makes the most sense at that particular moment.
In 2025, €37800 was used to support 17 schools in long-term partnership, and one additional school was supported through the construction of a well.
How the Support Works
We collect donations throughout the year. In the following period, we turn them into practical support according to the schools’ needs, local cooperation and the funds available.
IMPLEMENTATION PERIOD: JANUARY–AUGUST
We know the schools personally, return to them regularly and plan together with local communities. In some areas, it makes sense to begin work at the start of the year; elsewhere, it is better to wait for the dry season (June-August), when the community can be more actively involved.
Where there is cooperation, support works.
What We Are Planning Next
We would like to use the funds raised through this page mainly to continue building classrooms, renovate toilets, equip schools with desks, build school kitchens and, where possible, support the construction of another well.

The schools currently most in need of support are those without any partner, or those with only partial support. These include, for example, Lyenje, Azimio, Majombo, Ibungu, Ngole, Mlondwe, Nsongwa and Simike.
Long-Term Work Opens Up New Possibilities
Thanks to the trust we have gradually built with the schools, we can now go further than repairing walls, desks and roofs.
In Ilungu and Mlondwe schools, we are also piloting the Changemakers / Tvůrci změny project. Through it, children learn to notice problems around them, work together, look for solutions and carry out small changes in their school or community.
School Support therefore gradually connects better learning facilities with the development of the children themselves.
