Venezuela was struck by two exceptionally strong earthquakes on 24 June 2026. Tremors were recorded in several states across the country, and several buildings collapsed in the capital, Caracas. According to AP, the earthquakes are among the strongest in more than 100 years. Local authorities have therefore declared a state of emergency, while the U.S. Geological Survey estimates that the number of victims could range from tens of thousands to one hundred thousand. Hundreds of people have been injured. Please help provide the most urgent humanitarian assistance to people in the affected areas. 🆘💔
Rescuers are still searching the rubble of collapsed buildings, and authorities warn that the death toll may rise significantly in the coming days. Thousands of people have lost safe shelter, and many are spending the nights outdoors for fear of further aftershocks. Residential buildings, public facilities and critical infrastructure have been damaged. Hospitals are struggling to cope with the influx of injured people, and schools are being used as temporary shelters for evacuated residents.
ADRA has allocated 100,000 US dollars for emergency assistance to people affected by the earthquake—more than 2 million Czech crowns. 🆘 ADRA's local staff are currently assessing the situation and have activated their emergency response plan, enabling them to distribute food packages to those in need. As further needs are identified, ADRA Venezuela will continue its relief efforts and is likely to expand its assistance.
ADRA Venezuela has been supporting the local population since 1989, with its work intensifying since 2017. It operates mainly in Venezuela’s southern and western states, as well as in the Caracas metropolitan area. In total, it has already helped almost 265,000 people through 34 humanitarian projects. ADRA Venezuela is now responding to the current disaster and helping affected people across different areas.
We will continue to monitor the situation, which remains complicated by ongoing aftershocks and incomplete information from the worst-affected areas. ℹ️
Your support will make it possible to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of affected people and provide assistance where it is needed most.
💚 Thank you 💚

Aspoň kapku na pomoc při té hrůze... máte to teď i vy těžší pomáhat, snad bude na všech stranách zase lépe!
