Iduya needs two more classrooms and a new teacher

Iduya Primary School in Tanzania is in desperate need of a new school building. Although villagers built a rough construction for two classrooms four years ago, the promised roofing from the government has still not arrived. The uncovered building is now damaged beyond repair and cannot be continued. Help us start again - properly and, most importantly, on time! If we can raise 300,000 CZK by the end of the year, we can start new construction and bring a new teacher on the mission in January.

New place for teaching

Destroyed classrooms, no electricity, 300 children and only 4 teachers. Help us build new classrooms to bring hope to the school. Join us!

Where we help

Iduya Primary School is located in the Usangu region of Tanzania - in the heart of the savannah, where dust swirls in the summer and floods threaten in the winter. Yet 300 children attend. They are taught by just four core teachers and two volunteers paid by small donations from parents. The school has seven classrooms, but some are in disrepair - with cracked walls or no roof. Still, the children try to learn as much as they can.

"There is no electricity or water. The classrooms are missing windows and the walls are cracking. Only 4 teachers for 300 children. Iduya is the Cinderella of our schools. For now!"
- Project coordinator, first visit to Iduya

We have to start again. Why?

Four years ago, villagers started on the construction of two new classrooms with the hope that it would soon receive the promised support from a government program. But the help never came. The building was left without a roof, and today its walls have been damaged by intense rains and temperature fluctuations. It would be unsafe to continue - it is necessary to start from the ground up.

What we want to do on mission 2026

1. Begin construction of two new classrooms

Foundations: 1 200 EUR; walls: 2 000 EUR (10,000 burnt bricks); roof: 3600 EUR, windows: 1 200 EUR, door: 400 EUR; plastering, flooring: 3200 EUR; other equipment: 400 EUR
Total cost for 2 classrooms approx. 12 000 EUR

2. Pay at least one additional temporary teacher for 2026

Pay for 1 temporary teacher: 800 EUR / year
So that each of the seven classes can be attended by at least one teacher.

Long-term vision

- what we would like to do in the next few years

This fundraiser is a start. In the future, we want to...

  • Build a well and bring water to key areas of the school
  • Build a kitchen (new building or lightweight roof over old rough structure)
  • Repair classrooms where we can (walls, floors, blackboards)
  • Ensure connection to the electricity grid (important for teaching in the final year)
  • Continue to support local volunteer teachers, motivate frustrated teachers and provide teaching aidH
However, we will announce a fundraiser for these steps later - now we need to start building classrooms from the ground up.

Why just Bez mámy

Our Bez mámy team has been helping in Tanzania since 2006. We care about education. In addition to supporting the education of individual children, we support the development of poor rural schools. We wish to make quality education accessible to poor children in excluded areas.  Every year we visit schools and work with communities that are participating in their own development. Our motto is:

"Help me to do it myself".
