Green Patrol - monitoring and protection of jaguars

The Green Patrol team in Costa Rica, in collaboration with national park rangers and biologists, is monitoring American jaguars. Our team detects illegal activities, especially poaching and logging, inside and outside protected areas. Your donation can support this work, equipment purchases and monitoring to benefit field conservation in Costa Rica's wilderness.

Introducing the Green Patrol monitoring and anti-poaching team, which is made up of members of Justice for Nature and works with rangers and environmental police in Costa Rica. The foundation for this work was laid in 2021, when we established our own biosphere forest reserve, Green Life, which we are guarding to protect the boundaries of Tapanti NP. Our team also conducts licensed jaguar monitoring in Tapanti NP and La Amistad. At the same time, we carry out monitoring of jaguars and illegal activities in Santa Rosa NP and its borders, where we patrol around farms due to conflicts between farmers and jaguars who occasionally hunt their cows. Monitoring should also start in Palo Verde NP. In addition to photo traps, we are developing advanced equipment to detect poaching online, in real time, which will be a revolutionary technology for the protection of national parks without mobile signal.

Thanks to your support, we are able to make technical innovations and equip the Green Patrol with modern technology, including regular field patrols.

Help us continue our active direct protection of jaguars, cougars and tapirs!
Prevention, monitoring and direct action are proving to be effective tools against poaching.
