Sustainable Sport - A guide for Czech sport that wants change. Help us develop it.
Sport has a significant environmental footprint, but also the power to inspire change. The udrzitelnysport.cz portal is a guide for Czech sport, helping clubs, federations and event organisers get started with sustainability. It offers practical guides, real-world examples and people who can advise. Help us develop it, so that change reaches all of Czech sport.
How do you picture a sports event in Czechia? A sausage on a plastic tray, disposable cups, mountains of waste and wasted water. Yet it can be different. The udrzitelnysport.cz portal is a guide that helps clubs, federations and event organisers do something about it. It inspires hundreds of people who work in sport and want change. Help us develop it.
And it is not only about waste. Sport has a unique opportunity to lead by example. What we learn at the stadium, we carry over into everyday life. On top of that, European legislation and ESG obligations are on their way, and sports organisations need to get ready for them.

Udržitelný sport (Sustainable Sport) is the first Czech platform connecting sport and sustainability. It is not only for clubs. It is for anyone who makes decisions in sport and wants to know how to go about it, from the management of clubs and federations through venue operators and event organisers to cities and companies. You will find dozens of articles, practical guides, inspiration and a community of people who are working on this too.
Since launching in June 2025, we have reached more than 250,000 people, and thousands of visitors have come to the website. We have held three webinars, and the project is under the patronage of the National Sports Agency.
Thanks to our years of work, we know what troubles sports organisations and what barriers they face to change. Many of them already do something, but often in an ad hoc way. That is why they need continuous support, practical examples, guides and clear information on legislation. That is exactly what we want to provide. The first step was publishing the handbook Sport bez odpadu (Sport Without Waste). Now our goal is to deliver the first Zero waste stadium. Besides our own activities, we also took part in the pilot course Sustainability of Sports Events at Charles University and co-organised the Sustain Sport conference with them.
What your gift will support
Website development. Sports organisations most often tell us they need an overview of grants and funding, which is why we are preparing a grants section, along with more articles and educational materials.
