Sun for Ukraine: 8 trucks of solar panels before winter hits
Imagine temperatures dropping to -15 °C, pitch darkness, and a dry tap. In Ukraine, a power blackout is never just a turned-off lightbulb — without electricity, water pumps collapse, heating systems fail, and hospitals face life-threatening emergencies.
Help us deliver solar panels to 7 Ukrainian municipalities. Together, we can secure independent energy sources for them before the freezing cold sets in.
We are currently raising funds to cover the transport costs of 8 trucks carrying solar panels to the municipalities of Vinkivtsi, Teofipol, Smoline, Kamienets-Podilskyi, Zhytomyr. These communities will use the panels to build solar power plants on schools, waterworks, water pumping stations, and other critical infrastructure facilities. The solar panels are ready. Now we need to pay for their transport.
The transport cost per truck is approximately CZK 80,000 (approx. €3,200), and every contribution has a direct impact:
CZK 1,100 (approx. €44): Covers the transport of 9 solar panels from the Czech Republic directly to the target municipality.
CZK 2,500 (approx. €100): Transports 20 panels, securing an independent power supply for drinking water pumps for hundreds of local families.
CZK 5,000 (approx. €200): Covers the transport of solar panels for a rural school or kindergarten (approx. 45 panels).
CZK 8,000 (approx. €320): Covers exactly 1/10 of the journey for one fully loaded truck (approx. 73 panels).
CZK 12,000 (approx. €480): Covers truck space for over 100 panels—for example, for a local health center.
CZK 20,000 (approx. €800): Covers 1/4 of the total truck transport (over 180 panels).
Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure have long been testing the resilience of local communities.
A routine winter blackout during sub-zero temperatures triggers a catastrophic chain reaction:
Darkness and isolation: Lights go out, internet and mobile networks fail. People in local communities lose all connection with the outside world.
Freezing homes: Most modern heating systems rely on electric pumps to circulate hot water through radiators. Without power, homes and public buildings freeze within hours.
Dry taps: Municipal water supply systems rely on powerful electric pumps. Without electricity, drinking water stops flowing from taps, and wastewater treatment comes to a halt.
Critical care at risk: Local health centers, preschools, and crisis management units lose power to run basic essential equipment.
Time is working against us. Winters in Ukraine are harsh, with the coldest temperatures hitting in December and January.
Donate electricity, heat, and water today. Thank you for helping!
The Sun for Ukraine initiative raises funds to install solar power plants on hospitals, schools, and water utility facilities across Ukraine. Thanks to the solidarity of people in the Czech Republic, solar power systems with a total capacity of over 4.2 MW have been installed in more than 30 cities since 2023.
