Relief for people with Alzheimer's disease and their families
When Alzheimer's disease enters a person's life, it permanently changes his or her life and that of the entire family. Loss of short-term memory, disorientation in time and space, these are the consequences of the disease at an early stage. Within a short time, a person becomes completely dependent on the care of another person.
Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease is incredibly exhausting, both mentally and physically for any family. We help families in their difficult role take a moment to stop, rest and recharge. And they do this knowing that their loved ones are reliably cared for and in good company.
We do not yet have a cure for Alzheimer's disease, but we can slow its pace and give patients the opportunity to have a joyful time despite their diagnosis. The regular activation activities we offer our clients every day significantly slow down the progression of the disease and reduce the incidence of its negative manifestations such as depression, anxiety and aggressive outbursts.
The Senorina Centre has been providing respite social services to people with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia for 8 years. We help up to 70 clients and their families have a more joyful time each year.
But without the support of individual donors, this service would not work.
