Drinking water distribution and children learning in underground shelters during bombardments all need electricity. Let’s help provide it.
As you probably know, Russia has been bombing the electricity grid in Ukraine. I would like to help ensure that people there have more reliable access to drinking water and that children, for example, have light in underground shelters during the attack. One solution is installing solar panels directly on critical infrastructure – an independent and financially sustainable energy source for local communities.
The organization NESEHNUTÍ, where also my husband is working on this project, has already helped install panels in five hospitals. Thanks to these, there is no risk of a power failure in the middle of a surgery or while supporting a patient’s vital functions. Now, municipalities are interested in panels for other services as well – such as water distribution amd schools and kindergartens.
The panels themselves are already secured – they were donated by Czech companies. Now, however, they need to be transported to Ukraine. Due to Petr Macinka axing humanitarian projects at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, funding is lacking – not to mention that diesel prices have spiked because of Donald Trump, making transport 50% more expensive overnight.
Please consider making a contribution. Currently, we need to raise 140,000 CZK (5,800 EUR) to transport the panels to Zhytomyr, Sambir, Chernihiv, and other towns.
And what will be my contribution? For every 2,000 CZK raised through this appeal, I will provide one hour of free English lessons to a Ukrainian student who lost his lessons due to the terminated Ministry projects. He is from an occupied territory of Ukraine and works on the topic of political prisoners and Ukrainian children abducted to Russia. He needs English to speak about these issues at meetings with politicians, officials, and journalists abroad – ensuring that peace negotiations aren't just about territories, but also about the people forced to live or survive under Russian rule.

For the fifth year, Ukraine has been under relentless bombardment and attacks by the Russian army, causing power outages across the country. In hospitals, lights go out in operating rooms and equipment in intensive care units stops working. Water supply systems are unable to operate, and schools and kindergartens are left in darkness. Let us bring light and electricity back to where they are needed most. Support the purchase of solar power systems for critical infrastructure buildings. You will help save people’s lives.
The donations currently being collected will help cover the transport of more than 15,000 solar panels to the communities of Zhytomyr, Sambir, Chernihiv and other cities. The total amount required to pay for the transport is CZK 1,525,000.
At the beginning of January, Ukraine’s Minister of Energy confirmed that the country currently does not have a single fully functioning large power plant. The energy situation is critical.
In severe frost, Kyiv and other regions are left without electricity and heating for weeks at a time. People cannot heat their homes, do laundry, or warm up food.
Cities are struggling with power outages; some have electricity for only two hours a day. The most at risk are hospitals and other critical infrastructure facilities that need a continuous supply of electricity to operate.
That is why we are raising funds to install solar power plants.
Since 2023, individuals and companies have supported the Sun for Ukraine initiative with donations totaling CZK 8 million. Thanks to their contributions, solar power plants have been built in Sumy, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Kolomyia, Zaporizhzhia, and ten other cities.
Solar panels provide not only immediate support, but also long-term assistance in rebuilding war-torn Ukraine.
Thanks to minimal operating costs and independence from fossil fuels, solar energy is the best available solution to ensure heat and electricity for people in Ukraine—even in the event of further attacks and power outages.
