Markéta runs for LIFE…

Let us help to start the Foundation of the Department of Palliative Medicine and Let us start the process of change in healthcare in the Czech Republic 
I believe that a good life can be lived even with a serious illness. This is the reason why I've been working with the Team of Palliative Care of General University Hospital in Prague for five years. This team has developed into the independent Department of Palliative Medicine this year. This is a big issue, because palliative care is still not available to all those who need it in the Czech Republic – patients and their families facing a serious illness.

For nearly the same amount of time I have been running. My trainers Honza and Dominik have helped me to gradually increase the distance covered from a mere 5 km at the beginning to my decision to run my first marathon on the 7th of November in Barcelona.

From the 1st of November I accepted the post of Executive Director of the Foundation of the Department of Palliative Medicine which was established with the aim to assure that in the future it should be possible to offer palliative care to patients in all hospitals in the Czech Republic.

We are on the starting line together – the Foundation and me. The marathon is awaiting us and it will be hard work but I believe that together we can make it: let us help to start the Foundation of the Department of Palliative Medicine and support it on its first kilometres! Let us donate 2 000 CZK for each of my marathon kilometres. The collected sum of money – 84 000 CZK – enables the Foundation to cover its costs until the end of this year. Let us start the process of change in healthcare in the Czech Republic! Thank you for your support – I will think of you with each step of my run…😊
