Support, so LGBT+ people can be themselves in our country and in Hungary
Donate and support the only week that offers a real sense of freedom and unity to LGBT+ people. We'll use half of your donation to organize more than a hundred educational, cultural, and community events during the festival week. The other half will be donated to Budapest Pride.
Czechs are hiding their identity
According to researches, up to 59% of LGBT+ people in the Czech Republic are not open about their orientation and identity. They are scared of the reactions from their friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues. Hateful statements from politicians contribute to the fact that people are afraid to be open about their orientation or gender and are even ashamed of who they are. The consequence of such statements, among other things, is the recent attack on a gay couple in the center of Prague.
Help people to be safe and experience a sense of unity
The Prague Pride festival is a safe space for everyone who wants to be themselves. It offers more than a hundred events between the 2 and 8 of August. We celebrate all LGBT+ people and we fully support them in their diversity. During the festival week, we will focus on coming out. It is a topic that can change a lot not only for individuals but for society as a whole. Help us to make the festival happen!
50% of the amount will be donated to Budapest Pride
Although in the Czech Republic we see hate speech coming from politicians, while people face prejudices and hatred, in Hungary the situation is way worse. A few days ago, Hungary passed a bill banning the display of LGBT+ topics under the age of 18, including educational materials. This law will have devastating consequences for young LGBT+ people who won't be able to get any support. The law will also restrict the right to information and education for society as a whole, which may increase stereotypes and hatred of LGBT+ people. The traditional Budapest Pride festival is also endangered. That's why we decided to donate half of the donations to our friends in Hungary so they can use it to defend the rights of LGBT+ people.
