The ROZHLED project

The ROZHLED project is aimed at children from children's homes and socially disadvantaged backgrounds aged 16-26. It is aimed at developing their talents and skills, choosing the right career, subsequent independence and employment in the labour market. Over the course of 5 months we work with a group of 20-25 children who come to us once a month in Prague, where the following programme is prepared for them: Strengths testing; Individual career counselling; 4 workshop weekends (critical thinking; end procrastination; financial literacy; cybersecurity; digital marketing; Google tools; working with graphics; self-presentation and more); CV creation, job interview simulations; 3 company field trips (tailored for each participant); Group work on your own project using the Design Thinking method; Upon completion of the project, participants are prepared for job interviews and employment and are enriched with a range of new skills. It can be said that the project provides a "starting line comparison" with their peers.

Empowering socially disadvantaged young people and those from children's homes is at the core of what we do in Nadání a Dovednosti. These young people entering adulthood are one of the most vulnerable groups in the labor market in Czechia.

Our ROZHLED project (meaning 'to gain perspective' in Czech) helps students to work on their strengths and create a career path they could follow. We organize educational workshops for them, help them to explore their visions, and provide career consultations. Our project also connects youth with various companies and organizations in Czechia. Each participant visits at least three companies, based on his or her interests and passions. Students thus gain valuable insight into the work environment, learn about different positions, and their future possibilities.

The ROZHLED project runs twice a year and ensures an individual approach to participants. Every round of the project is designed for 20 participants aged between 17 to 21 years.

Since 2012 was more than 928 young people from 120 children's homes from the whole Czech Republic joined the project. We have organized 20rounds of the project so far.

The 21st round starts in September 2021.

The project has three main activities: 
  • Workshops (on soft and digital skills, on productivity, design thinking, finance management, motivational speakers)
  • Individual Career Counseling 
  • Career Days (individual company tours or shadowing based on their career/profession choice)
