NADĚJE (HOPE) for people without home

Last year we provided 133 425 overnight stays to people who had nowhere to go.

WHO WE HELP

We help people who have lost their homes due to family crises, the loss of a loved one, poverty, unaffordable housing, unemployment, or debt.

We also support seniors, people with long-term health limitations, people dealing with trauma, addiction, or a lack of social skills, and victims of crime.

Homeless young people who grew up in dysfunctional families or were raised in institutional care are a particularly vulnerable group.

What unites them all is the loss of a safe home. Every day, they face the risk of hunger, cold, deteriorating health, and increased vulnerability to violence and crime.

HOW WE HELP

In our facilities we accept anyone who has no home and comes to us to ask for help. We also look for homeless people directly in the places where they survive. We offer them immediate help and other follow-up care. We enable them to regain their strength and, with the help of experts, to start to resolve their life situation so that they can return to normal life.

We provide food and material assistance, hygiene and basic health care, and we also provide laundry, social wardrobe, housing and expert advice on employment, housing and debt.

Helping others makes a difference. Our statistics show that:
- more than half of our clients (57%) no longer need our services within one year,
- in the medium term (up to six years), about 27% continue to use our services,
- 16% use our services, with various breaks, for more than six years,
- 7% of clients need our support in various forms on an ongoing basis.

We work with homeless people within the following services of HOPE:
  • streetwork,
  • day centres,
  • dorms,
  • shelters,
  • surgery for homeless people,
  • crisis assistance,
  • training flats,
  • Housing First.
We are part of the project to help homeless people, First Roof, for which its initiator Vojtěch Sedláček won the VIA BONA award.
