Let's support Ukrainian civil society representatives in the fifth year of the Russian invasion

For the fifth year running, people in Ukraine have been facing bombardment and the destruction of infrastructure. Due to targeted Russian attacks, they are struggling not only with power cuts, but also with non-functioning water and sewage systems, which rely on electricity to operate. In frontline regions, schools are closed, and travelling to a pharmacy, a shop, the fields or work carries a high risk of being struck by a drone, which is responsible for the majority of injuries and deaths. It is precisely these civic initiatives and organisations, particularly in the southern and eastern regions, that are helping locals to get through these difficult times. Join us in supporting these representatives of civil society so that they do not slacken in their efforts and can continue to provide aid throughout this year. Thanks to your donations, the drop-in centre in Znamianka can remain open throughout the winter for children from internally displaced families, operating at an expanded capacity, whilst in Kherson, humanitarian organisations can move about somewhat more safely thanks to newly acquired drone detectors. The funds raised are also being used to support organisations providing psychological care to children in areas near the front line, within sight of the destroyed Kakhovka Dam. Last but not least, your donation will help to evacuate people whose lives are in immediate danger. You can find out more about how your donation is helping Ukrainian civil society in our News section.

We have been operating in Ukraine since 2014 and during that time we have managed to establish partnerships with many local organizations, to which we have so far provided support in building a conscious civil society.

We help independent journalists report political repressions and human rights abuses. We support investigative media that bring corruption to light and expose power interests. We work with human rights defenders to monitor human rights abuses. Also, our partners are local associations of active citizens, dealing with environmental protection, assistance to victims of domestic violence, transparency of public procurement or caring for orphans.

The invasion of Russian troops puts all these great people in double danger.

Current support for Ukrainian civil society

  • Distribution of in-kind aid – medical, protective and other supplies – directly to the affected areas
  • Distribution of financial aid to procure necessary supplies directly in the affected areas. Providing facilities (accommodation, offices, equipment) for organisations relocating from ‘hotspot’ areas to safer parts of Ukraine
  • Assistance with evacuations for activists and their families who currently have no choice but to leave Ukraine
  • Support for psychological and medical assistance for Ukrainian survivors of sexual violence
