Guru was wondering the streets. Alone, scared, without food or care. Thanks to a great woman who managed to catch him, he is safe now. But we need to fix his health problems and we can´t do it without your help.
Guru was wandering the streets of Prague 10 all by himself. Luckily, a kind woman noticed him and decided to take action. She contacted us to let us know about the stray cat and borrowed a humane trap from us so that we could catch him. It took several days, but eventually, Guru was caught!
From the very beginning, it was obvious that poor Guru was in a terrible state. We were looking at a tough street cat who had clearly been through a lot. His entire head was covered in scratches, his eyes were barely visible, and he had an injury to his mouth. He was a cat who had clearly been through fights on the streets – and possibly even abuse.
Of course, we took him straight to the vet to find out what was wrong. Although he was limping, thankfully, nothing was broken. It is most likely the result of an old injury. Most of Guru’s injuries are concentrated around his head.
Guru’s lower jaw is broken completely in half. It seems likely that he may have been hit by a car during one of his adventures on the streets. And then there are his eyes. One of them is perfectly healthy and he can see with it, but the other one is completely non-functional and has shrivelled up. It could be the result of a fight, but unfortunately, according to the vet, it is also possible that it was caused by a person – that someone actually injured or gouged his eye out.
But despite everything he has been through, and despite his tough appearance, Guru is an absolutely incredible cuddlebug. You don't come across a sweetheart like him every day. If you stop petting him for even a moment, he reaches out with his paw and pulls your hand back towards him – because surely you're not going to leave him without cuddles for too long!
Guru wants to live. And he wants to be someone’s beloved cat. He just needs to heal from all his battle scars first.
And this is where we need your help. Guru has already cost us over CZK 10,000 at the vet. This included his initial blood work and an operation on his jaw. He currently has a wire holding his jaw together while it heals and the bones fuse back together.
Once his jaw has healed, Guru will need another surgery. This time, the remaining part of his damaged eye will have to be removed and the wound stitched closed.
We estimate that Guru’s veterinary bills will cost the shelter at least CZK 25,000 in total. And unfortunately, we simply cannot cover that on our own.
Guru deserves to heal so that he can finally rest peacefully and happily with his future family. After everything he has been through, he deserves that chance.
