Support Lenka Vagnerová & Company – Support dance, culture, and the development of talent.

One era of our company comes to an end... We are scaling back operations, but we are not giving up! Dear audience, friends, and supporters, This year’s budget cuts by the Ministry of Culture have forced us to bring an end to our permanent ensemble model with contracted in-house dancers. Yet we will continue to perform and create! To see this through, we now need your help as well. Ever since the grant results were announced in April, we have done everything in our power to cover the funding shortfall and preserve both the company’s current structure and the professional foundation we built over so many years. We established an ensemble that could work continuously, rather than merely jumping from project to project. In the Czech cultural landscape, this was a truly unique model: as an independent company, we directly employed our core dancers. This allowed us to train daily, achieve exceptional performance quality, and create collectively. It enabled us to sustain and evolve our repertoire over time, nurture individual artists, provide dancers with genuine professional security, and cultivate emerging talent—both through professional internships for arts students and through our robust educational program. Despite our utmost efforts, however, we were unable to secure the missing funding. As a result, from the second half of October onward, we have had to significantly curtail our operations.

What does this mean for our operations through the end of the year?
  • We have scaled back rehearsals and daily artistic work.
  • We are letting go of our long-standing company model composed of dancers on employment contracts and transitioning to freelance (contractor) collaborations.
  • We are suspending morning classes for professional dancers and the general public.
  • We are suspending professional internships for art school students.
  • The impact is felt directly by our dancers as well as the entire production and operations team.

COME TO OUR PERFORMANCES!
Come support us at the theatre, because every ticket sold and every member of the audience in the house helps us keep going.

SUPPORT US FINANCIALLY ON DARUJME.CZ
A direct donation via Darujme.cz helps sustain our team, studio, and creative foundation. Every contribution, whether small or large, makes a real difference to us.

We want to keep dancing and creating.
On stage, you see the final result. Yet behind every performance stand the dancers, months of rehearsals, daily training, creative work, technical crew, our LV&C_STUDIO8—the beating heart of the company—and the people who keep everything running. All of this demands a stable, professional infrastructure whose costs ticket sales alone simply cannot cover. Following this year’s cuts, we have significantly curtailed our operations, yet many ongoing expenses and commitments must still be met.

To give you an idea of some of our operating expenses through the end of 2026:
Estimated breakdown of selected expenses (in CZK):
LV&C_STUDIO8 (rent, utilities, and running costs): approx. CZK 250,000
Other essential operating costs: approx. CZK 500,000
Studio costs include two months’ rent, Q4 utilities, and running operations from mid-October onward. The remaining essential expenditures mainly cover artists’ fees, technical and production support for performances, and essential services required for the company to function. These commitments remain even after substantially reducing our activity.

WE ARE NOT GIVING UP.
We have plans; we are preparing new productions as well as international tours. We want to keep creating, collaborating, offering a platform to young artists, and bringing you dance that dares to cross boundaries.
We are therefore actively pursuing new partnerships and funding sources to maintain stability and preserve the caliber of the ensemble.

We believe that in the future, we will return to our unique permanent ensemble model.

By attending our performances, you support our current work. By donating on Darujme.cz, you help make our future work possible. Right now, both mean the world to us.

Contemporary dance cannot survive long-term solely on the sheer determination of the people who make it. It also requires the decent, dignified conditions in which to come alive.
