Together, we have delivered more than 13,000 free lunches to people in difficult life situations, since the opening of Střecha 5 years ago! The recipients eat these in the comfort of our restaurant, which means that in addition to a portion of good vegan food, you also give them the opportunity to eat their lunch with dignity and without stigma.

Who are you helping when you prepay a pending lunch?

For example, Adam, who found himself on the streets simply because he had a disagreement with his family and, deven though he is working, he does not have enough money for a place to live. Honza, who has overcome a serious illness that has left him disabled and now he is struggling to find work. Tomáš, who lost his home after the death of his parents. Or, for example, Katka, who has been living on the streets for years because of a few bad life decisions and people who have hurt her. There are many different stories, and we don't know them all.

But we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to bounce back from the bottom and start over. And most importantly, we believe that every person should have the opportunity to eat warm food and with dignity, no matter what life has thrown at them.

We asked the people who come to our pending lunches what they like best about Střecha. They all agreed that, apart from the food, they come here mainly for the atmosphere and the opportunity to sit in a restaurant where the staff treat them with respect and where their comfort matters.

"We are here first and foremost as ordinary people. When you're homeless, people don't always treat you like that out there." - explains Ms. Katka.

And that's exactly what we're trying to do here. To give people a sense of security and comfort in addition to a portion of food. Thanks to you we serve up to 10 pending  lunches every workday. We would like to continue this way and gradually increase the number of portions given out each day. Will you help us do that?

One pending lunch costs 175 CZK (price including the operational fee). For this amount you can buy someone in need a full meal, consisting of soup and main course.
