The Foundation for the Protection of Animals is a non-governmental non-profit organization with the legal entity of a foundation. Since its establishment in 1994, it has been defending the interests and rights of animals (Animal Rights) and advocating for their well–being (Animal Welfare). The foundation's mission is to continuously improve the human – animal – environment relationship, help alleviate suffering and ensure acceptable living conditions for animals in human care, captive and wild animals. This mission is based on the belief that animals are sentient beings that deserve responsibility, attention, care and protection from humans. It is based on the idea that every life (not only human) has its own unique value and that in nature there are mutual links for the survival of all living organisms and the maintenance of the balance of the entire ecosystem.
