What Dorostová unie is?
Dorostová unie (DU) is an organization that has been supporting the work of the leaders who lead junior groups, clubs or scout troops of children from the age 6 to the age 15 since the year 1999. In the Czech Republic there are several local teams of the leaders in at least 60 cities. They run year-long activities for children. This activities help to children to have a responsible life in love towards God, people and themselves.
Dorostová unie is based on our own proven practice and also on adopted experiences of other organizations. We raise people to be responsible in a systematic and practical way.
We create educational materials, experiential courses and thematic conferences.
We provide organizational, economical and legal support and service.
We teach leaders and we help them to grow.
Main partner organization is a church called Církev Bratrská.
Dorostová unie is led by members from the church organization called Dorostový odboru Církve bratrské.
Our services are also used by other churches in the Czech Republic.

The examples of life stories influenced by DU:
- "A girl who was only 13 years old when she came to the children's club went through our educational system. Over time, she became involved in our activities and at the second Youth Festival in 2016, she already led her own dance workshop. Later on she completed a course called Rádcovská that is for young people who want to be leaders of Children church groups. Then she became a young leader in their Children church club. Nowadays she is 18 y.o. She lives in Prague. She helps with leading younger children in their local club." Daniel Jokl, the chairman of the DU.
- Vít Hlásek, the pastor of CB Praha 4 Jižní město church said: “All-round orienteering race called Biblical trail and other DU events had a major formative influence on the development of my personality during my adolescence. They helped me to grow in my faith and also to read the Bible more. I remember many beautiful memories with my friends back then. The Biblical trail helped me build new friendships in my church group but also with lots of new kids across the region. We knew we were not alone and we encouraged each other to grow in faith. Moreover, we had a lot of fun together.
The core of our educational system
The picture below shows our educational system in which the child gains diverse knowledge and skills along with responsibility for his own life.
The most important elements in the system are the leaders, the relationships, the program of the clubs or meetings, the experiential courses that take place all around the Czech Republic, the national events and also the mentoring.
As a result of this system there is a responsible adult who can become a counselor or leader in the club/scout troop and in the local church.
We made a handbook called Kompas that is meant to be for all leaders or their helpers. We describe there a practical way of applying our educational system. It is a great help for everybody who wants to be a part of the DU.
The main asset of the DU is in the education:
The main features of the educational system of the DU are:
- Comprehensive education is realized systematically and practically.
- We realize education on all levels - individual, regional and national.
- The key activities for children in our clubs/scout troops are regular and during the whole year.
- The experiential courses called Rádcovská 1, Rádcovská 2 (for young leaders) and Vedoucák (for older leaders) are the basic courses that we organize.
- Biblical trail is an event that contains all the important moments of our educational system. It is like an “all in one” event.
- We organize a huge festival for children on the national level called Megasjezd (for all children all around the Czech Republic) and also smaller festivals called Megasharewood on the regional level (for all children from the regions).
- We provide a life-long education (events called Čerpadlo, Summer Bible study, OPEN IT)..
- We provide mentoring and coaching.
- We focus on exchanges of the experiences and impulses for our leaders that can help them to be closer to children these days.
What do we have to finish?
We need to finish:
- a material with tips and advices on how to organize the regular meetings of clubs/scout troops called “Stezka”.
- a material that is a basic guide about children clubs/scout troops for newbies called „Nováčkovská zkouška“
- getting a team that would organize a motivational course called „Rádcovská: Draft“ for children from the age 12 to the age 14.
