Save the Food

We search for the ways how not to waste food. _________________________________________________________________ Since 2014, Save Food has been providing verified data on food waste to key stakeholders, proposing concrete measures leading to responsible food management, motivating change, and seeking support for it. Our vision is a world where food is treated with respect. In 2025, we celebrated the third anniversary of the Save Lunch project. Thanks to this initiative, it is now possible to donate portions of hot meals that were not consumed in school or company canteens. These lunches would otherwise end up in the bin. In 2024, we managed to feed over 30,000 people in need with them, which was almost double compared to 2023. All rescued food goes to those who truly need it – seniors, mothers with children in crisis situations, single parents, and people experiencing homelessness. This year, we are continuing at the same pace. We are looking forward to seeing the final number of saved portions at the end of the year. Our network is constantly expanding across the Czech Republic.

Why does this matter to us?

- food that is never eaten, grown over an area larger than China, and consumes 20% of the world's fresh water supply,
- organic waste is the largest source of methane emissions, a greenhouse gas 80 times more warming than carbon dioxide,
- the greenhouse gases produced by wasted food are 4 times more than those produced by airlines,
- wasted food could feed 1.26 billion hungry people every year.

  • 150 CZK = a hot meal for a week for a homeless person (Save Lunch project) 
  • 300 CZK = 7 hot meals rescued and donated to 7 peaople in need (Save Lunch project)
  • 500 CZK = preparing a new Rescue recipe for our website
  • 2 700 CZK = 100 hot meals rescued and donated (Save Lunch project)
  • 9 000 CZK = regular updates and optimization of the Save Lunch mobile app
  • 35,000 CZK = external legal services for 1 year, enabling us to implement system changes
  • 50 000 CZK = involvement of 2 new canteens in the Save Lunch project
