“Sometimes I spent the whole night watching p*rn and chatting. You can probably imagine how exhausted I was the next day at school or at work. It wasn’t until many years later, in my early thirties, that I began to admit to myself that I probably had a problem,” Šimon shares about his experience with problematic pornography use.

There are many stories like his.

Watching pornography can get out of control and turn into a pattern of behavior that affects mental well-being, relationships, and everyday functioning. People who have experienced this describe stress, anxiety, or loneliness — struggles that often take place “behind closed doors.”

💬 “I thought I was completely alone in my surroundings dealing with something like this. I was afraid to tell anyone,” Šimon says.

Statistics show that only 20–30% of people with compulsive sexual behavior seek help. At the same time, up to 53% of therapists report a growing number of clients seeking support for problematic pornography use.

What does this mean — and what can be done?

It means the problem exists, but many people face it alone. That is exactly why NePornu support groups exist.

A support group provides a safe space where people can openly talk about what they are going through. It is not therapy, but a peer-support meeting built on respect and confidentiality. Members share their stories, encourage one another, and look for practical steps toward change.

💬 “Everyone knew what I was talking about. I never had to explain things at length,” Martin shares about his experience in a support group.

Experience shows that change is easier when a person is surrounded by understanding relationships and a safe environment. This is what the groups create — a place without shame or judgment, but with understanding and support.

💬 “Taking the first step isn’t easy. I struggled with it at the beginning myself. But whether you decide sooner or later, it is always the right time for change,” says Lucie.

More than 100 clients each year find help through our support groups.

This shows that the need for a safe space and support is real — and growing.

The groups are led by trained facilitators who create a respectful and accepting environment. This allows participants to work toward change, share experiences, and gradually regain greater control over their behavior.

💬 “It’s a place where I can reflect more deeply on how I should address my problem,” Petr shares.
