Educational Centre Project – Tuhnická Hájenka, Karlovy Vary
The goal of the project is the complete reconstruction of an existing three-storey building located on the edge of a continuous forest area and the Slavkovský les Protected Landscape Area. The building, originally serving as the Tuhnice Forest Lodge, is currently uninhabitable.
Through the reconstruction, the site will be transformed into a modern environmental education centre, focused primarily on forest pedagogy - a form of learning that helps visitors understand the forest ecosystem, sustainable forestry management, and the many benefits that forests provide to people.
The centre will serve both children and students (during school hours) and the general public (afternoon and leisure activities such as clubs and workshops).
The new facility will include: • a large multi-purpose hall that can be divided into 2–3 smaller rooms, • 2–3 specialized laboratories or study rooms for hands-on learning, • barrier-free access throughout the building, • administrative and technical facilities, • restrooms and support areas, • and outdoor spaces suitable for lectures and educational activities.
The project aims to create a welcoming and inspiring place where people of all ages can learn about nature, sustainability, and the responsible care of our forests.
