We have been supporting the Mahango School since the very beginning of Bez mamy NGO (2006). We have managed to repair classrooms, toilets and build a kindergarten, we have supported physical education classes, organized soccer and netball tournaments, and occasionally bought some textbooks. All this seems like nothing to add, but the opposite is true. After years, we need to repair the repaired ones again, finish and improve the started buildings, build new toilets because the old ones are no longer in good condition. The school still lacks textbooks and supplies and the children are still taught hungry, which is for education very inefficient.
What are our goals:
- Benches for all pupils
- Uniforms and notebooks for the poorest children (about 10%), because without them they cannot attend school
- Rain and draught free classroom
- Safe and hygienic toilets
- Enough textbooks
- Acquire teaching aids
- Meal programme during the school day
These objectives are set to be met in the long term. How quickly this can be done will depend mainly on finances, but also on the procedures that we will seek together in collaboration with the whole local community (with the principal, teachers, parents' representatives and representatives of the Mahango community).
