Horňácko, a region with an exceptionally rich, vibrant, and distinctive traditional culture, has until now lacked an institution dedicated to preserving and systematically passing on this remarkable heritage. The need to create such a place arose directly from within the region itself. The driving force behind the establishment of the Horňácko Regional Centre is Petr Mička—an ethnologist and, at the same time, an active bearer of the Horňácko musical tradition. The Centre therefore combines deep local knowledge with a professional, research-based approach. With every passing moment, we lose part of the living memory that has never been documented. Yet there is still an opportunity to record, preserve, revitalize, and share this invaluable heritage. This is precisely why the Horňácko Regional Centre was established—a place at the very heart of the region where research, education, community life, and cultural activities come together for both local residents and visitors.
