We want to expand the New Virgin Forest with another plot of land covering 4.6 hectares on the eastern edge of the Ještěd Ridge, in a place known as Pod Liščí skálou. Despite its age, the land already hosts trees over 130 years old, which will be able to grow here for another 100–200 years. To purchase the land, we need to raise CZK 1.000.000.

This spring we got to work - together with the old forest, we also gained a freshly cleared area. Volunteers are helping us restore a truly diverse forest here.

And this pleasantly surprised us in the spring. In addition to thousands of snowdrops blooming in the wetter areas, hundreds of cowslips are also flowering here. Both are protected species.

We also found the rare mezereon (Daphne mezereum).

New fenced enclosures will also protect natural regeneration, such as this young sycamore maple.

Just look at it - isn’t it beautiful?

And this is our goal. A place where a new generation thrives alongside giant old trees, a place reclaimed by nature. A place where people no longer come with chainsaws, but only with humility toward old trees and the natural world. A place that will become a natural sanctuary - the New Virgin Forest.
