Let’s make history together — support the first Kutná Hora Pride!

In big cities, Pride festivals are full of color, music, and joy. But in smaller towns, life for LGBTQ+ people often looks very different. In Kutná Hora, many queer people still grow up feeling invisible — with no community spaces, no local role models, and nowhere to simply be themselves. Some stay quiet, some leave for bigger cities, and some stop believing that acceptance is possible at all. Help us change that.

Isolation and loneliness. Many queer people in smaller towns grow up feeling like they are the only ones. Without visible role models, communities, or events, they lack a sense of belonging. This often leads to mental health challenges — higher rates of anxiety, depression, or self-stigma. 

Lack of safe spaces. There are often no public places where LGBTQ+ people can meet safely and openly. Social life in smaller towns tends to revolve around schools, pubs, or clubs — spaces that may not always feel welcoming. As a result, queer people have fewer opportunities to connect, celebrate, and build supportive networks locally.

Limited understanding. When LGBTQ+ people are not visible, the whole community loses something important. People have little opportunity to learn, meet, and understand. This allows stereotypes and prejudice to persist — not always out of hate, but often out of ignorance or lack of exposure. Visibility builds empathy and bridges between people who might otherwise never meet.

Jiná Hora, a young local LGBTQ+ association, is organizing the very first Pride Festival in Kutná Hora — a celebration of diversity, courage, and belonging. Their goal is simple yet powerful: to bring visibility and pride to a place that has long lacked them.

  • Organize the first-ever rainbow parade through the historic streets of Kutná Hora
  • Host music performances, film screenings, and seminars
  • Create safe, welcoming spaces for queer people and allies to meet
  • Show the region — and the country — that diversity belongs everywhere, not only in big cities
