The Church of the St. Salvator (Holy Saviour) is one of the most valuable early Baroque buildings in Prague and boasts the status of a national cultural monument. The western entrance facade of the church is located on Křižovnické náměstí on the Old Town side of Charles Bridge, which is today the most touristic part of the Royal Route. It is also one of the busiest traffic places in Prague. The extreme car traffic, the vibrations caused by tram traffic, the onslaught of tourist traffic and the humidity from the nearby Vltava River form a set of negative influences and causes of construction defects.
Which defects need to be solved as soon as possible?
- repair and reinforcement of the stone elements of the church tympanum and stucco decoration
- rainwater leakage into the cornice from defective waterproofing of the balcony and defects associated with the water drainage from the terrace at the two spouts
- falling stone parts of the balustrade and façade, mossing of the stone slabs of the balcony, the balustrade railing and the main cornice
