Charity journey from Rajhrad to Santiago de Compostela
Hello friends,
For several years, I’ve been trying to stay active and improve my fitness. Thanks to this, I’m starting to fulfill my dreams and travel by bike (bikepacking). I’ve started a blog on Instagram and Facebook called “Kafka na cestách,” where I share my experiences with others. I’ve had a project in mind for some time now: a pilgrimage route by bike from Rajhrad to Santiago de Compostela. I want to turn this journey into a charitable one, supporting those who are at the end of their life in the loving care of the Rajhrad hospice. I believe that even the very last mile of life deserves to be lived without pain and surrounded by loved ones.
This is my longest planned journey yet (around 3,000 km). I will start my journey on May 1, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the Abbey Church of St. Peter and Paul in Rajhrad, the Czech Republic. With each pedal stroke, I will lead you along Europe’s great rivers and Alpine lakes all the way to sunny France. After conquering the Pyrenees, I will connect to the centuries-old route of kings and pilgrims, which will take me through Spanish vineyards and historical cities, finally reaching the gates of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. At the end, at the tomb of St. James, the patron saint of all pilgrims, my physical exhaustion will give way to pure joy – the joy of not having given up and completing the journey.
With this ride, I want to remind everyone that hospice care is also not about “giving up” but about providing the maximum support to life in its most fragile stage.

I will dedicate every kilometer of my journey to hospice and palliative care for patients at the House of Pain Treatment with the Hospice of St. Joseph in Rajhrad, where the physically and mentally demanding work cannot be replaced by machines but is carried out by people – doctors, nurses, and caregivers at the bedsides. Let’s be their invisible support and ensure they have dignified conditions for their demanding mission.

Specializovanou paliativní péči poskytujeme pacientům v terminálním stadiu nevyléčitelného onemocnění. Smyslem paliativní péče je zmírnění příznaků provázejících onemocnění tak, aby zůstala v maximální míře zachována kvalita pacientova života.
Cílem naší práce je umožnit pacientům prožívat každý den s důrazem na jejich důstojnost, komfort a pocit bezpečí, umožnit jim kontakt s rodinou a přáteli dle jejich možností, či nabídnout duchovní útěchu. Rádi splníme i individuální přání pacienta, pokud je to jen trochu možné.
Dary nám pomáhají udržet vysokou kvalitu péče, tedy zajistit dostatek kvalifikovaného pečujícího personálu, ale i pokrýt náklady spojené s nákupem zdravotnických a hygienických prostředků a obnovou vybavení.
