213 KM / 4500 m by Rekola bike riding to Klinovec and Ještěd Road Classics monuments! Sacrifice = Reward for Palliative Care :)
This year, I'll join the Road Classics competitions in Klinovec and Ještěd for a great cause. There would be in total 213 km with +4500m altitude gain to be ridden by Rekola bike sharing, all in support and to raise funds and awareness for Palliative Care for the terminally ill and their families.
I believe all of us as humans make sacrifices or put in extreme efforts at some point for a dream, a passion, or for our loved ones. Who hasn't done it right? This year, I'd like to put my effort into supporting a noble cause. Palliative care for the terminally ill and their families.
I'll be cycling as a companion of Domestici.cz, a total of 213 KM /+4500 m by Rekola bike share over the two competitions organized by Road Classics in Klinovec and Ještěd. Doesn't sound quite challenging? Maybe, but if you ride a 17Kg bike with only 3 gears uphill, you'll understand that it's not that easy. Therefore, any contribution you could kindly make will be a great support for Palliative Care in CZ, and additionally will compensate for the litter of sweat I'll leave on those roads with the purpose of creating awareness and helping to transform the way we die in the Czech Republic.
Palliative care empowers people to face death without fear, to embrace dignity in their final chapter, and to discover the freedom to live more fully, right up to the very end.

- Hospice of Saint Lazarus, helping people at the end of life in the Pilsen region.
- The Mobile Hospices Forum, making palliative care more accessible in other regions of the Czech Republic.
- The Center for Palliative Care provides education and information, essential for good end-of-life care to become commonplace.

Why is palliative care important?
Palliative care helps people with incurable illnesses live quality lives until the very end — without unnecessary pain, in safety, and with support provided not only to them, but also to their loved ones.
- In the Czech Republic, approximately 70,000 people need palliative care today.
- Yet 40% of people don’t even know what palliative care means.
We believe that no one should be left alone, in pain, or in fear at the end of life.
What do we do as Domestici.cz?
We are building a community of people who speak openly and respectfully about palliative care — and who actively support it.
- We organize awareness-raising events.
- We connect people through challenges and personal stories.
- We provide financial support to hospices and organizations that develop palliative care across the Czech Republic.
The project was born out of the founder Martin Souček’s passion for ultra-cycling. In 2024, he linked his participation in the Race Across America with support for palliative care. And around this idea, a community of “Domestiques” gradually grew — a community of people who help others.
How exactly will your donations help?
All funds raised will be distributed among outstanding organizations that are advancing palliative care in the Czech Republic, specifically:
- The Forum of Mobile Hospices, helping make palliative care more accessible
- The Center for Palliative Care, which provides education and awareness for healthcare professionals across the system as well as for the public
- Selected hospices across the Czech Republic
10% of the collected amount will be used for the long-term support of the Domestici project. This will enable us to carry out this fundraiser and many other awareness-raising activities. Thank you for your understanding and support.
