From the Office to the Alpine Ridges | PART THREE | We Are Domestiques
Share:
The cycling season is in full swing, and once again we're heading from the saddles (of our bikes) to the saddles (of the mountains). A year later, we're taking on another stage race across the Austrian and Italian Alps.
This time, we want to give our journey a deeper meaning—for many reasons, including some very personal ones. We believe that being active is normal, that giving is normal, and that caring about people and the world around us is a foundation of a healthy society.
That's why we're setting off on this journey—with the goal of helping others!
Join us! Ride with us again! Be part of our team! Let’s become DOMESTIQUES – together, where it truly matters.
(A domestique is a cyclist who sacrifices their own ambitions in a race to support their team – shielding the leader from wind, bringing water, or pacing them toward a decisive moment.)
We are David, Robert, and David – three friends, amateur cyclists in the “prime of our lives.” This year again, we’re riding the Tour TransAlp – a stage race across the Austrian and Italian Alps. Over seven days, we’ll take on hundreds of kilometers, 15 mountain passes (including the legendary STELVIO and the terrifying MORTIROLO), and 15,000 meters of elevation gain. We need your support – but even more so, the DOMESTIKS need it.
Because once again, we want our journey to have a deeper meaning. It’s not just about the athletic challenge. If you can help, you should – that’s the foundation of a healthy society. You might remember last year, we rode for Dobro-druzi – young changemakers building a better world. Thanks to you, we raised 300,000 CZK.
This year, we’re riding for DOMESTICI.CZ – a brilliant project run by dedicated volunteers and professionals who support hospice care, raise awareness around palliative care, and work to ensure that life’s final chapter isn’t one of suffering, but of dignity and presence.
Join us. Get in our slipstream and support the DOMESTIQUES. We’re riding for palliative care.
DOMESTICI.CZ – the organization receiving all your donations – is a vital project helping people navigate the hardest moments: how to support a loved one as long as they have the strength, and eventually, how to face our own final days. Under the leadership of the tireless Martin Souček – a passionate cyclist himself – Domestici are helping develop care that sooner or later, every one of us will need. They open the difficult conversation about end-of-life care with courage, empathy, and respect.
And we want to thank them – not just with words, but with action.
Join us. Every kilometer and every donation matters. Help the DOMESTIQUES. Help palliative care. Help those who help others.
Thank you. David Neveselý / Robert Neruda / David Bureš
domestici pro pomoc druhým z.s.
In cycling, domestiques are team members whose role is to support their leader and help them reach the finish line in the best possible shape.
Domestici.cz is a project that connects active people with the topic of palliative care — so that they can support their loved ones while they still have the strength, and contribute to the development of palliative care, which sooner or later, most of us will need.
Life should remain meaningful and dignified until the very last second. That’s what palliative care is here for.
Our dream is to create a high-quality awareness project focused on this essential topic. As a non-profit association, we rely on your support to make it happen. Right now, we’re a small team of just four people, doing everything we can to shine a light on palliative care — and make sure this topic gets the visibility and attention it truly deserves.
Organizing public awareness events such as the charity bike ride "8 Days for Palliative Care" in 2025
We helped the seriously ill doctor Petra Vrbová organize the “Petra Calls 155” fundraiser for the hospices in Semily and Vrchlabí and raise over 1 million CZK
We organized a series of public talks and community events to promote the topic.
We recorded multiple podcast episodes featuring inspiring guests.
We involved public figures and personalities, encouraging them to launch their own donation challenges.
We gained the support of corporate partners such as T-Mobile, Česká spořitelna České spořitelny and others.
From time to time, we will inform you about palliative care and how to support it by email newsletter.
--- The domestici.cz project is carried out based on a public challenge by Martin Souček, in contractual cooperation with the organization domestici pro pomoc druhým z.s. For this reason, your personal data may be shared — strictly to the extent necessary — with domestici pro pomoc druhým z.s. for purposes such as project administration (thank-you messages, project impact analysis, ongoing communication, updates on results, opportunities for further support, and project-related fundraising).
