A week ago, I celebrated my birthday, and as a gift to myself, I took part in the legendary long-distance hike Lužická 50. My friend and I chose the 35 km route, and since I’m originally from this place, this event holds a special place in my heart. :)
I’ve dedicated my participation with a charity sports challenge — and you can join in too! I’m supporting my home project, Domestici.cz, which focuses on promoting palliative care and improving the quality of life at its end.
I’ve decided to donate 100 CZK for every hour spent on the hike — it’s not about performance for me, but about time well spent. Because just like in sports, every minute counts at the end of life, too.
How can you join?
Do any kind of sport activity by May 10 (the challenge deadline) and choose your own donation goal — for example, donate a certain amount per hour or per kilometer, depending on what feels more natural to you — then contribute your amount to this campaign.
You can also donate any amount even without doing sports.
Share this challenge with your friends, family, and colleagues — the more of us join, the more we can raise for palliative care.
Be with your loved ones and spend as much quality time with them as possible — that counts too!

Domestici.cz is a project that connects active people with the topic of palliative care — so that they can support their loved ones while they still have the strength, and contribute to the development of palliative care, which sooner or later, most of us may need.
Life should remain meaningful and dignified until the very last second. That’s what palliative care is here for. We’ve made our dream come true – together, we’ve raised over 10 million Czech crowns to support this challenging yet deeply human cause that can touch any of us. And this is just the beginning!
Domestici.cz = support for Palliative Care in the Czech Republic
In June 2024, Martin Souček and Tomáš Navrátil stood at the starting line of one of the world’s toughest ultracycling races. After 8 days, 8 hours, and 23 minutes, they crossed the finish line, having ridden exactly 4,936 kilometers.
A race like that is impossible to finish without domestiques — those who ride in support of the leader, offering help and strength in the toughest moments.
And that's exactly who we’re looking for now: domestiques for palliative care.
Your donations will go directly to support outstanding non-profit organizations: the Forum of Mobile Hospices, the Center for Palliative Care, and chosen hospices across the country.
Together, we hope to ensure that as many people as possible — whether our loved ones or strangers — can live their final days with dignity and quality of life. Palliative care is not about curing at all costs. It’s about making sure that when the end comes, it happens in the way the person themselves would wish.
