This campaign is already closed. Thank you!
My name is Aleš Zavoral, and for the past few years, I have been participating in unsupported long-distance cycling races. This year, as my main race of the season, I will take part in the most famous and oldest off-road unsupported race, the TOUR DIVIDE. I will ride 4,300 kilometers from the Canadian town of Banff, crossing the Rocky Mountains through the entire USA to the border with Mexico in Antelope Wells—all without any external support.

On this occasion, I want not only to push my physical limits but also to support an important cause: palliative care in the Czech Republic.

My goal is to raise 215,000 CZK (approximately 10,000 USD), which means 50 CZK (about 2.30 USD) for every kilometer I ride. All the funds raised will be donated to support palliative care through the DOMESTICI project.

Palliative care is invaluable in ensuring a dignified life for patients with serious illnesses and in supporting their families. It helps not only to alleviate physical pain but also to provide psychological and emotional support. I believe that every kilometer I ride can contribute to ensuring that those who need it most receive the care they deserve and can spend the final stages of their lives at home, surrounded by their family, rather than in hospitals.

Support me on this journey and help change the lives of people who are going through the most challenging moments of their lives. Join me as a fellow Domestici and contribute any amount. I sincerely thank you in advance for your contributions to support palliative care!

All the donations will be distributed among organizations that focus on palliative care and are advancing it in the Czech Republic, specifically:

  • Hospice of Saint Lazarus, which helps people at the end of their lives in the Pilsen region.
  • Mobile Hospice Forum, which is working to make palliative care more accessible in other regions of the Czech Republic.
  • Palliative Care Center, which provides education and awareness, essential for making a good end of life a common reality.
Start of the Tour Divide race is on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 8:00 AM (4:00 PM CET) from the Canadian town of Banff near Calgary, and the finish line is at the USA-Mexico border in Antelope Wells.

You can follow the live race progress, including my position on the map, here: TrackLeaders: Tour Divide 2025.
I will also do my best to share updates throughout the race on my social media channels: Instagram, Facebook and Strava

Domestici.cz connects sport, solidarity, and support for palliative care in the Czech Republic. We bring together active people who care about how our loved ones live — and how they leave this world. Together, we help ensure that the end of life can be calm, dignified, and spent close to those who matter most.

Why is palliative care important?

Palliative care helps people with incurable illnesses live quality lives until the very end — without unnecessary pain, in safety, and with support provided not only to them, but also to their loved ones.
  • In the Czech Republic, approximately 70,000 people need palliative care today.
  • Yet 40% of people don’t even know what palliative care means.
We believe that no one should be left alone, in pain, or in fear at the end of life.

What do we do as Domestici.cz?

We are building a community of people who speak openly and respectfully about palliative care — and who actively support it.
  • We organize awareness-raising events.
  • We connect people through challenges and personal stories.
  • We provide financial support to hospices and organizations that develop palliative care across the Czech Republic.
The project was born out of the founder Martin Souček’s passion for ultra-cycling. In 2024, he linked his participation in the Race Across America with support for palliative care. And around this idea, a community of “Domestiques” gradually grew — a community of people who help others.

How exactly will your donations help?

All funds raised will be distributed among outstanding organizations that are advancing palliative care in the Czech Republic, specifically:
  • The Forum of Mobile Hospices, helping make palliative care more accessible
  • The Center for Palliative Care, which provides education and awareness for healthcare professionals across the system as well as for the public
  • Selected hospices across the Czech Republic
10% of the collected amount will be used for the long-term support of the Domestici project. This will enable us to carry out this fundraiser and many other awareness-raising activities. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Become a Domestique!

Anyone can get involved — in a way that suits their possibilities:
  • Donate any amount.
  • Create your own fundraising challenge at the bottom of this page and involve people around you! Connect Domestici.cz with your sporting challenge, event, or personal story.
You don’t have to be an athlete. All you need is the desire to be there for others.

Thank you for helping change the way we accompany people at the end of life in the Czech Republic.
