Krankenwagen für die Verteidiger der Ukraine vom Verband der Vereine der Tschechen und Slowaken in der Schweiz

Die tschechische Non-Profit-Organisation Post Bellum, die seit drei Jahren im Rahmen der Sammlung „Pomozte Ukrajině s Pamětí národa“ (Helfen Sie der Ukraine mit dem Gedächtnis der Nation) ukrainische Verteidiger mit Schutz- und medizinischem Material unterstützt, und der Verband der Vereine der Tschechen und Slowaken in der Schweiz schließen sich zusammen, um weitere Leben zu retten und einen militärischen Krankenwagen an die Frontlinie zu liefern.
Die Sammlung wurde auf Initiative von Jonáš Mazáček, dem stellvertretenden Vorsitzenden des Vereins Domov in Basel, ins Leben gerufen. Er hat bereits mehrfach mit Paměť národa Hilfsgüter in die Ukraine transportiert und mit eigenen Augen gesehen, wie wichtig diese Unterstützung für die Verteidiger ist. Wir wollen nicht einfach tatenlos dem Unrecht und der Aggression zusehen, denen unsere Freunde ausgesetzt sind, nur weil sie sich entschieden haben, unsere Werte von Freiheit und Demokratie zu teilen. Unterstützen wir die Verteidiger der Ukraine und helfen wir ihnen, indem wir einen Krankenwagen spenden, der an der Front Menschenleben retten wird.
Liebe Freunde,
In unserer europäischen Zivilisation ist das höchste Gut das menschliche Leben. Einem Gefallenen können wir es nicht zurückgeben, und wir können einer Familie nicht ihren Vater oder Sohn zurückbringen, wenn er das Kostbarste geopfert hat, um sein Land zu verteidigen. Genau deshalb sendet das Projekt „Pomozte Ukrajině s Pamětí národa“ (Helfen Sie der Ukraine mit dem Gedächtnis der Nation) den ukrainischen Verteidigern Material, das Leben rettet. In den vergangenen drei Jahren haben wir 35.000 Tourniquets, 32 Frontkrankenwagen und viele weitere medizinische Hilfsgüter in die Ukraine geschickt.
Wir sind unseren Landsleuten in der Schweiz und Schweizer*innen dankbar, die sich entschieden haben, eine Sammlung für den Kauf eines weiteren Krankenwagens zu organisieren. Und wir schätzen es sehr, dass der Verband der Vereine der Tschechen und Slowaken in der Schweiz die Schirmherrschaft über diese Sammlung übernommen hat.
Wir alle ahnen, dass dieses Jahr für die Ukraine entscheidend sein wird. Es wird über mögliche Waffenstillstandsverhandlungen gesprochen, die vielleicht noch in diesem Jahr beginnen könnten. Doch unabhängig von allen zukünftigen Plänen und Prognosen wird in der Ukraine immer noch – genau jetzt – aktiv gekämpft. Russland rückt vor, und die Zahl der Toten und Verwundeten auf ukrainischer Seite steigt täglich. Selbst wenn Verhandlungen über einen Waffenstillstand beginnen sollten, werden ihnen höchstwahrscheinlich intensive Kämpfe vorausgehen, mit denen insbesondere die russischen Aggressoren ihre Ausgangspositionen verbessern wollen.

POST BELLUM
Ukraine is bleeding. We do not want to just passively watch the injustice and aggression our friends face because they choose to share the values of freedom and democracy with us. For almost three years now, we have been buying protective and medical equipment and taking it to Ukraine as quickly as possible and where it is most needed. Vests and helmets from us are used by defenders on the front line, many tons of medical equipment save lives. We have supplied fire and ambulance vehicles, drones or optical equipment.
The important things do not change with the times. Whether it’s the stories from the times we ourselves faced war and totalitarianism or the ones happening right now just a few hundred kilometres away from us, they are connected by the longing for freedom, safety, and one’s home. Our own experience with war and totalitarianism in the 20th century makes us obligated to help others.
In 2019, the non-profit organisation Post Bellum set up an office in Lviv with the goal of filming the witness accounts for the Paměť národa archive. Our colleagues in Ukraine recorded dozens of stories mostly from survivors of Stalinist repressions, dissidents, and political prisoners. After the outbreak of the war, they asked for our help. We could not decline. Thanks to your support, we have supplied the defenders of Ukraine with thousands of bulletproof vests and helmets, tonnes of medical equipment and optical devices as well as fully equipped ambulances and fire trucks. Dozens of human lives have verifiably been saved thanks to this. All the aid provided has been non-lethal in nature.
All materials needed have been consulted with experts from the Army of the Czech Republic. The recipients of our aid are predominantly frontline fighters, members of special forces units. The assistance is implemented through the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic. Representatives of the Czech Embassy in Kyiv then oversee the correct use and distribution of the material to those in need.
In cooperation with the Donio portal and, above all, six thousand generous donors, we managed to collect funds for equipment of two field hospitals that play a vital role in saving the lives of wounded soldiers.
Together with the general public, we remind ourselves that the war in Ukraine is still on and that we must not be indifferent. On February 23, 2025, together with the organizations People in Need, Million Moments for democracy and the European Congress of Ukrainians we organized a rally for the 3rd anniversary of the war. The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, also spoke at the Old Town Square.
On the evening of August 20, 2024, we organized a commemorative event called "Go Home, Ivan" for the first time in the Boris Nemtsov Park with the same organizations. We recalled the time when Soviet aggression also affected us. We continue the tradition, in 2025 the event "Go Home, Ivan" took place on August 21 at the same place in front of the Russian Embassy. The band Rybičky 48 played at the event.
