YUNGO Company Fundraiser for Centrum LOCIKA - CHILDHOOD WITHOUT VIOLENCE

‘Tis the season, so we at YUNGO and Centrum LOCIKA are pleased to announce a Christmas fundraiser with a goal of 40.000 CZK. The aim is to provide year-round care for one child, who, like young Klára, is a victim of domestic violence.
Help us return a smile to the face of at least one child who experiences violence in his or her family. Remind someone little that the spirit of Christmas CAN bring a happy childhood.
Klára's (10 years old) and Tomáš's (5 years old) parents are in the process of a messy divorce punctuated by conflicts and violent outbursts. The children regularly witness quarrels and beatings, and get dragged into disputes where Klára sides with her mother, Tomáš with his father. Klára now suffers from anxiety and nervous tics, while Tomáš often turns on his mother in rude defiance.
"Dad screams at our mother first and then hits her. I run to her, I hold her hand and I scream at Dad too. Tomášek joins Dad. He gets up in front of him, cries and tries to hit Mom too." Klára (10)
At the LOCIKA Center, we start by talking to the parents. We explain to them what children experience during conflicts and what they need to heal. Both parents work together, and we involve them in our Childhood Without Violence program. We focus their attention on their children, and on their fundamental common interest. The family then separates in peace; Klára and Tomáš move out with their mother, but the parents also arrange for the contact between the children and their father. The family functions much better under the new arrangement; the parents meet in cafes, and sometimes they pick up Klára from therapy together. Tomáš also comes to us for therapy. Both siblings greatly appreciate their parents’ accord and their proper treatment of each other. Unburdened as a result of the change in circumstances, they return to their interests and hobbies and are able to start just being children again.
The LOCIKA Center provides therapeutic aid to 250 children every year. The aim of their work is to stop domestic violence and create conditions for children to have safe relationships with mom and dad. Join us and your gifts will go towards hours of support, listening, and finding the best solutions to making these children in their families feel safe again.
