The future of the forest – support monitoring that saves ecosystems
We want to find out the true state of nature using modern technologies:
🛰️ drones with thermal imaging and multispectral technology
📸 automatic camera traps,
🤖 and artificial intelligence that evaluates data.
Help us restore the balance between humans and nature.
Until 2030, a blanket measure of year-round hunting of game up to 2 years of age is in effect, which results in locations with very low game populations and the hunting of pregnant females or mothers caring for their young. This is unacceptable to us!
Our goal is to determine the actual levels of game in individual areas of the Czech Republic and its impact on the health or damage to forests. The results will be the basis for negotiations with foresters, farmers, and hunters, and together we will then submit a proposal for a solution to politicians so that laws and regulations correspond to the actual conditions in the locations.

Projekt Monitoring stavu lesů a zvěře v OCHEKOS se postupně rozbíhá. Udělali jsme první důležitý krok – začali jsme sledovat výskyt divokých zvířat pomocí fotopasti, kterou máme aktuálně k dispozici. Díky ní získáváme cenné záběry z jejich přirozeného prostředí, často v časech a místech, kam se lidské oko běžně nedostane. Velkou pomocí jsou pro nás také dobrovolníci, kteří nám posílají fotografie a informace ze svých oblastí. Díky jejich ochotě a zájmu o ochranu přírody se nám daří alespoň částečně mapovat pohyb a chování zvěře v různých regionech.
Realita v terénu: málo dat, omezené možnosti
Musíme však otevřeně říct, že materiálu máme zatím žalostně málo. Jedna fotopast a omezené technické vybavení nestačí na systematický monitoring, který by mohl přinést relevantní a dlouhodobě využitelná data. Bez nich je velmi obtížné popsat skutečný stav lesních ekosystémů a dopady lidské činnosti na volně žijící zvířata.
Proč potřebujeme moderní vybavení
Aby měl projekt reálnou šanci na úspěch, nutně potřebujeme moderní monitorovací techniku – více fotopastí, lepší senzory, zabezpečení dat a nástroje pro jejich vyhodnocování. Jen tak dokážeme vytvořit odborně podložený výstup, který bude možné předložit odpovědným orgánům jako seriózní podklad pro ochranu divokých zvířat a jejich prostředí.
Právě probíhá lovecká sezóna. Kolik zvířat po ní zůstane? Pokud málo, může dojít k degeneraci zvěře kvůli příbuzenské plemenitbě. Mnoho myslivců při lovu nedbá na zdravotní stav a věk zvířat, která zastřelí. Nejedná se tedy o tzv. "přirozený výběr", jako když loví predátoři. Ti se zaměřují na stará, zraněná nebo slabá zvířata.
Pomozte nám dát hlas těm, kteří ho nemají
Monitoring není samoúčelný. Je to cesta, jak dát přírodě hlas, který bude slyšet tam, kde se rozhoduje. Pokud chcete projekt podpořit – ať už technikou, finančně, nebo zapojením se do sběru dat – dává to obrovský smysl.

In order to help protect our ecosystems, which inherently include everything from microorganisms, birds to large mammals, we need modern technology. A view from the ground is one thing, but a view from above is much more effective, our work is a thousand times faster, as is the initiation of corrective measures.
Thanks to your generosity and trust, we will be able to help monitor the condition of forests (although there are not many real forests in our country), but we can help them become healthy and real forests by convincing those who still view "forests" only in economic terms, through evidence, cooperation with experts who share our views, to change their approach to afforestation and the presence of animals in forests. Without them, they will never become healthy ecosystems.
