No to Demolition — The Fight to Restore the Vyšehrad Bridge Continues!
For the past three and a half years, we have been campaigning to save and restore the Vyšehrad Railway Bridge in Prague using modern engineering methods. The previous Minister of Transportation approved its restoration, while the former director of the Railway Administration is now under investigation by the National Organized Crime Agency (NCOZ). When will the bridge finally receive even basic maintenance? Let's keep fighting for this triple-protected cultural monument!
What has happened since December 2022, when the petition to save and restore the Vyšehrad Railway Bridge was launched?
Over 26,000 of us have signed the petition, and we've gained the support of 50 public figures — such as Eva Jiřičná, Aňa Geislerová — along with 140 architects.
Both a special UNESCO mission and an independent Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) have come out in favour of saving the bridge.
Thanks to the Endowment Fund for the Rescue of the Vyšehrad Railway Bridge, a reconstruction project has been developed that brings in foreign engineers, meets Czech standards, and proves that repairing the bridge is not only possible but also faster and more economical than replacing it with a new three-track bridge.
A commission of the National Heritage Institute (NPÚ) is preparing the documentation for a new tender for the bridge's reconstruction.
All of this is remarkable, and none of it would ever have happened without our shared effort. Thank you!
Yet the bridge continues to deteriorate. The former director of the Railway Administration is now under investigation by the NCOZ for corruption in public procurement, while the current director has used taxpayers' money to hire a second PR agency to sway public opinion against the experts' position.

Tolik let chodím kolem tohoto krásného mostu, a Správa železnic ho nikdy ani nenechala natřít proti rzi. Proč asi? Aby ho potom mohla zbourat, protože "zreznul". Takhle ne! Podobné krásné mosty ze stejné doby slouží po celém světě, proč má ten náš zmizet?

Nic důležitého, co ještě nebylo řečeno, už snad není. Jen to, že se nechci dočkat zbourání Petřínské rozhledny a vystavení repliky z lega, protože to se nemusí natírat. Děkuji spolku, že to nevzdává.
