Support a just transition in the Moravian-Silesian Region – donate to climate camp!

The climate and the population of coal-mining regions are at risk. Support the Climate Camp for Just Transition ( 4.-12.8.2025), so that we can mobilize a network of allies in the Moravian-Silesian Region – a network that offers hope for a truly just transition from the bottom up!

For 10 years, Limity jsme my (We Are the Limits) has been calling for an end to coal and a dignified future for workers in the coal industry and related sectors. With the ongoing phase-out of coal, there must also be a transformation that rejects false, superficial, and short-term solutions and is truly fair to all.

For the past three years, Limity jsme my has been focusing on the Moravian-Silesian Region, where it has been purposefully establishing links with remarkable communities, associations, and people behind inspiring plans and projects.

After three years, Limity jsme my has built a resilient network and left a clear mark in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Let's take action!

At climate camp 2022, we listened to stories from the Karviná community SOS Karviná, the Ostrava colonies of Bedřiška, Horní Suchá and Liščina, and the neighborhood of the Svoboda coking plant, whose operation was blocked for several hours by a group of activists to declare an end to the coking plant and further damage to the health of more than 1.2 million people in the Moravian-Silesian Region.

Through demonstrations for affordable housing, we highlighted another systemic problem: the post-Bakala company Heimstaden. In Bedřiška, we launched the next step of the Energie lidem (Energy for People) coalition campaign this year and insulated the first windows for two families.

During the 2024 Climate Ride through the Moravian-Silesian Region, we cycled through Opava, Ostrava, Karviná, and Frýdek-Místek in eight days to discuss with locals the direction the region's transformation should take. The fire station in Petřvald was filled with active people from all over the region. And we rode the Gigatrek around 400 hectares of the highest quality land, which is to be swallowed up by the controversial Gigafactory.

We also returned to Bedřiška, where the city is trying to destroy the site for the third time. Bedřiška is fighting for survival, and we are fighting with it.

Enough of decisions “about us without us” – now!

The common denominator of dozens of stories we have heard over the years is political ignorance, lack of transparency, lack of communication, and distrust in the potential of ordinary people. Yet the vision of everyday activists is finally bringing something valuable to the regions, and only the determination of an active civil society has the real power to transform something.

It is time to stop the destruction of nature and living beings! It is time to reject a transformation that only benefits politicians, developers, oligarchs, and foreign capital! It is time for the network in the Moravian-Silesian Region to come together and prepare for action!
