SOS earthquake in Morocco - Urgent help

On Friday 8 September, Morocco was hit by the strongest earthquake in more than 120 years. The death toll exceeded 2100, with thousands injured. "It was a terrifying night for all of us in Morocco", says CARE Morocco Director Hlima Razkaoui. "People are exhausted. Hundreds of people are sleeping on the streets at night, lying in blankets in parks, afraid to go home. In addition to the physical devastation caused by this monstrous earthquake, people are overwhelmed with fear and terror of what they have experienced."

CARE is working closely with the Moroccan authorities. We will provide food, safe water supplies, emergency shelter and medical assistance to those in need. We are also ready to provide psychosocial assistance to traumatized people. Immediate needs are critical.
