The owner of our former ward - paralysed Barney - contacted us unexpectedly. That's because Barney had troubles breathing and the vet then found out that he has a Congenial Diaphragmatic Hernia. 😰 We believe we don't stop being responsible once an animal is adopted, so we immediately decided to help. 🙏 From blood tests, the vet found out that Barney had infection in his body, due to which he couldn't undergo the surgery immediately. 😔 He was therefore given antibiotics and today, the results were a lot better. The vet should therefore operate him today. 🙏 Please, keep fingers crossed for him and that everything will end well. 🙏
The surgery and subsequent veterinary care will cost approximately 20 000 CZK. Please, if you can, donate to Barney to cover the veterinary care and help him get better. 🙏 Barney has experienced a lot, but now, he finally has a loving family and deserves to live a happy and long life in it. But he can't do it alone. 🙏

Barney crossed the rainbow bridge... 💔
In the last couple of days, Barney had troubles breathing and so the owner took him to a vet. After the X-ray, the vet thought it's Congenial Diaphragmatic Hernia, so it was decided that Barney will undergo a surgery. Unfortunately, once the surgery started, it was found out that the real problem was a tumor and bleeding in the chest. Due to the size of the tumor and its place, a surgery wasn't possible. 😢
The vet discussed the situation with Barney's owner and after they carefully considered it, they decided there's no use in prolonging the suffering and they let the little one pass away peacefully in his sleep... 💔
We were all in shock when we heard that Barney is no longer with us. Barney made a huge progress during the time he was in our care and later during the time spent with his new family. We were sure he has a lot of happy years in front of him. But the fate decided otherwise... 😔 For us, this evening is filled with tears, feeling of helplesness and injustice.
We're so grateful that despite his handicap, Barney found a new family that gave him lots of love and attention, at least in the last months of his life. We're convinced that Barney found the very best humans in this world for him who made him feel loved and safe. We are and always will be immensely grateful to them for it. ❤️
Barney will be forever remembered in the history of Handipet Rescue as one of the very first handicapped animals who managed to find a new home. In our hearts and memories, the brave fighter Barney will live forever. 🙏
