GIVE THE RAINFOREST LIFE! Together, we turn dreams into reality
Join our mission to protect the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador and help preserve this unique ecosystem. Your support creates real, tangible impact — and our work is far from over.
In February 2026, we successfully completed the purchase of another 50 hectares of rainforest, an area we named Shakaim Jii – Guardian's Eye.
Our current goal is to acquire a 35-hectare property known as Cock-of-the-Rock Waterfall for a total of USD 100,000. So far, we have raised approximately USD 55,000, leaving USD 45,000 still needed to reach our goal.
The property is currently largely covered by intact forest and features a unique system of cascading waterfalls.
It is located next to the existing El Paraíso Reserve and directly connects to the nearly 100 hectares of rainforest that we have already helped protect over the past several years. This makes it an ideal conservation buffer zone. Thanks to its location close to our field station, the area is accessible for regular on-site monitoring as well as camera trap surveys, which are essential tools for protecting the forest from poaching and illegal extraction activities.
The photographs shown here were taken by our volunteers and collaborating scientists.

Andean Cock-of-the-Rock
These lands are located in the Runahurco region, where the Andean cloud forest meets the Amazon rainforest. This transition zone between mountain and lowland forests creates exceptionally rich biodiversity.
The area is home to:
- bears
- pumas
- andean eagles
- ocelots
- and many of other species.

At the same time, these forests play a crucial role in retaining water in the landscape and maintaining the stability of the entire ecosystem.
If mining activities were to expand here, this vibrant rainforest could quickly be transformed into a degraded landscape with little life remaining.
What are we doing to protect the rainforest?
- Purchasing rainforest land for conservation
- Monitoring and protecting these areas over the long term
- Supporting local communities
- Educating the public about sustainability and rainforest conservation

Why does it matter?
The Amazon is disappearing faster than ever before. Near the areas we protect, rainforest continues to be cleared every day due to:
- Cattle ranching
- Soy cultivation
- Logging, gold mining, and other extractive industries
- Infrastructure development

“Mining, both legal and illegal, is expanding at an almost unimaginable pace. Combined with extreme drought, it is creating situations in the rainforest that we used to know only from distant reports. Empty riverbeds, dry leaves underfoot, intense heat even in the mountains...
All of this only strengthens our commitment and confirms that our strategy and efforts are moving in the right direction. These are enormous challenges, and we are ready to face them. At this moment, the only truly effective way we know to protect the rainforest is to purchase land before the bulldozers arrive.”
Radim Ondříšek, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board

Our work continues
More and more people are joining us in this mission, and for that we are deeply grateful. We truly believe that together we can make a difference.
Regular support creates lasting impact
Protecting the rainforest is not a one-time action. It is a long-term commitment, both in the field and beyond.
Regular support allows us to:
- Plan future land acquisitions
- Respond quickly to emerging threats
- Maintain research activities and long-term protection effort.

How can you help?
- Make a one-time donation and immediately help protect another piece of rainforest.
- Become a recurring donor and provide the stability needed to expand our impact.
- Join us in person at our Amazon field station, El Refugio.

About the Project
Forest.ink in the Czech Republic and Bosque Medicinal in Ecuador are sister organizations working together to protect th
e Amazon rainforest in the Runahurco region of Ecuador.
Together, we negotiate and purchase rainforest land to ensure its long-term protection. We also jointly built and operate El Refugio, our field station in the Amazon, where many of our educational, volunteer, and personal development programs take place.
Our conservation efforts are already showing measurable results. We have documented the return of protected wildlife species and observed a reduction in poaching and illegal extraction activities in the areas we help protect.
Our work extends beyond Ecuador. In the Czech Republic, we organize educational events, public talks, workshops, and participate in festivals to raise awareness about rainforest conservation and sustainability.
Academic Partnerships
A key part of our mission is collaboration with universities and researchers.
Our main academic partners include:
- Mendel University in Brno, represented by Ing. Jiří Schneider, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies.
- Universidad del Azuay in Cuenca, Ecuador, whose students and researchers regularly contribute to the project through fieldwork and study programs at El Refugio.
In addition, students from the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague have visited our station to collect data for their bachelor's and master's theses, generating valuable research with practical applications for the project. We also collaborate with several other Czech universities and academic institutions.
