We are currently directing our support towards the purchase of small adjustable parallel bars and wall bars, which will significantly expand the possibilities of care for clients with spinal cord injuries. These aids will assist them especially in verticalization and gait training. The cost of acquiring them amounts to an additional CZK 10,000.

We’ve reached our goal! But that’s okay :) On the contrary, it fills me with joy to see that people still care deeply about helping others. All further contributions from you will go directly to Paraple—there’s plenty of work to be done, and more every day. I’m truly grateful that we can continue supporting them together. I’m walking alone, but… not entirely. I’m walking side by side with the Paraple Center.

❤️ Why Santiago, and why now?
After years in the corporate world, where I devoted my energy to employees as a community manager, I’m now setting out on a shorter pilgrimage with deeper meaning. I want to support those who often have the longest journey ahead—people with spinal cord injuries. Those who may not be able to do everything, but absolutely want to continue living a full life and feel part of society. I’m treating this entire journey—"Camino de Maruška para Paraple"—as a solidarity expedition. Every step I take counts and will be a symbol of support, respect, and courage.

I’m setting off on September 1st from the town of Viana do Castelo, and I plan to reach Santiago by September 9th, 2025.

❤️ Why Paraple?
Even during my tourism studies, I focused on accessibility analysis in Kutná Hora (2010). For the third year now, I’ve organized a Christmas appeal for the children’s home in Radkov (2023, 2024) together with my mom. I sewed masks for hospitals during COVID, contributed to a fundraiser for Ukraine (2022), helped during flood relief efforts (2024), supported the blind, and twice climbed Sněžka with Mr. Petrouš and a group of amputees.
Solidarity means a lot to me—it’s a life value, gratitude, and good energy. I love dance, community, and support, and maybe that’s why I found my way to Paraple. The people who come into Paraple’s world continue to dance through life—with all their heart and soul.
I visited the Paraple Center in Vršovice on August 18, 2025, and saw the beautiful space of the former nursery. I was surprised to learn that a spinal cord injury isn’t just about learning to move again—usually mastering a wheelchair—but about rediscovering a life that’s as fulfilling as possible. Paraple is a place where life regains its contours—with care, dignity, and respect. And for that, I thank all Paraple supporters and everyone who is part of this center of hope.

Paraple Center helps people with spinal cord injuries:
- With rehabilitation, medical care, and psychological support
- With practical skills—from wheelchair transfers to choosing assistive devices
- With returning to work, relationships, and life
- With research, education, and connecting the world of wheelchair users with the public—like in the community café Pod Parapletem
❤️ What are we fundraising for?
A Gait Trainer, a special device for practicing upright posture and walking. It provides greater confidence, stability, and fall prevention. It helps build strength, coordination, and courage—supporting the journey toward greater independence. One Gait Trainer costs 40.000 CZK which is around 2000 eur.

Centrum Paraple | PARAPLE pomáhá lidem s poraněním míchy už od roku 1994. Nabízíme jim rehabilitaci, zdravotní a psychologickou podporu, pomoc s návratem do práce i s běžným životem. Naším cílem je, aby se lidé po úrazu nebo onemocnění míchy mohli znovu postavit na vlastní nohy – obrazně i doslova. Více než 50 % nákladů musíme pokrývat z darů jednotlivců a firem. Každý váš příspěvek proto znamená reálnou pomoc.
Každý krok se počítá – pomozte nám pořídit Gait Trainer
Pro většinu z nás je samozřejmé postavit se na vlastní nohy a udělat krok. Pro lidi po poranění míchy to ale znamená obrovskou výzvu. Často musejí začínat úplně od začátku – učit se znovu stát, hledat rovnováhu a postupně obnovovat pohyb. Klienti Centra Paraple, kteří k nám přijíždějí na rehabilitační pobyty, vědí, že i malý posun v rehabilitaci je velký pokrok. V tom jim může pomoci Gait Trainer – speciální pomůcka pro nácvik vertikalizace a chůze. Poskytuje větší jistotu, stabilitu a prevenci pádů. Pomáhá jim nabrat víc sil, koordinaci i odvahu a tím podporuje jejich cestu k větší soběstačnosti.
Proč je Gait Trainer důležitý?
- Podporuje vertikalizaci – tedy možnost znovu stát vzpřímeně.
- Umožňuje bezpečný a efektivní nácvik chůze.
- Posiluje svaly, koordinaci a vytrvalost, což má pozitivní vliv i na celkové zdraví.
- Dává klientům šanci znovu zažít pocit kroku – fyzicky i symbolicky.
Gait Trainer šetří sílu klientů i terapeutů. Díky jeho podpoře mohou lidé věnovat svou energii tomu nejdůležitějšímu – rehabilitačním cvičením, učení se novým dovednostem a získávání větší soběstačnosti.
Svým darem pomáháte pořídit do Centra Paraple dva Gait Trainery – speciální pomůcky, které klientům umožní znovu zažít pocit kroku, bezpečně trénovat chůzi a posilovat soběstačnost.

Aktuálně směřujeme podporu na pořízení malých nastavitelných bradel a žebřin, které významně rozšíří možnosti péče o klienty s poškozením míchy. Tyto pomůcky jim pomohou zejména při vertikalizaci a nácviku chůze. Náklady na jejich pořízení jsou dalších 10 000 Kč.
