Experience a sense of unity again this year!
Parties, concerts, queer art exhibitions, and debates are just a small sample of the rich program that the eleventh year of the festival, this time on the theme of coming out, will offer.
Pride Village on Střelecký Island will open to visitors in the early evening of Monday, August 2, and the extensive schedule will last throughout the week. In addition, to live concerts, visitors can look forward to art performances, stand-ups, drag shows, picnics, workshops, and dance lessons. Another venue, Pride House, will focus on exhibitions, debates, discussions, and education. The festival will also thematically connect several places in Prague.
The priority for the Prague Pride team is that everyone can be themselves and experience a real sense of belonging during the festival week. For this reason, the vast majority of events will be open for free this year as well. The organizers are also thinking of those outside Prague and those who may spend the first week in August in quarantine, and are preparing an online program for them.
And what about the parade? The rainbow parade in Prague traditionally welcomes tens of thousands of people, which is why it will probably not be able to take place this year.
Tom Bílý, festival director, says: "Although the atmosphere of the parade is irreplaceable, we are preparing for a hundred events, which will again culminate in Saturday's program. Rainbow walks will connect several places in Prague. We would like visitors to see the absence of the parade as an opportunity to get to know new or lesser-known events. The Prague Pride Festival is really not just a parade through the city, although it may seem so from the media. In reality, we are preparing a week-long festival with a number of events. We believe that everyone will find something for themselves there."
