This year, these women decided to join forces with the The Our Lungs Foundationto help a young girl who is fighting not only on the chessboard but also in everyday life.

About Daniela

Daniela was diagnosed with primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) at the age of 11. This condition causes her to experience daily coughing and a runny nose, so she constantly needs to carry tissues. Every quarter, she travels to FN Motol for pulmonary and ENT check-ups, and she performs essential airway clearance techniques every day.🩺🏥

During childhood, she frequently missed school due to her illness and had to catch up on missed lessons. However, after being diagnosed with PCD, her school absences decreased. Physical activity is challenging for her, and she gets out of breath quickly, especially when running. Therefore, she needs regular sleep and careful medical care to avoid surgeries and improve her overall breathing, lung capacity, and hearing.

Currently, she uses a saline inhaler daily to help loosen mucus, followed by a flutter device for airway clearance. She also takes preventive antibiotics year-round and monitors her blood oxygen levels.

Daniela and Chess

Daniela was introduced to chess by her father and brother. Due to her limited physical stamina for other sports, chess has become a key part of her life. She achieved a major success in 2024, securing 2nd place at the Czech Junior Chess Championship, which qualified her for the 2024 World Junior Championship and the Czech Women's Championship.🏆🎖️

During chess matches, absolute silence is required, which can be a challenge for her because coughing and a runny nose can be distracting, sometimes making her feel uncomfortable.

Free Time and Interests

Aside from chess, Daniela enjoys playing tennis and ping-pong, designing and modifying jewelry, and building Lego, where she can express her creativity.

What is PCD?

Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia is a genetic disorder that affects the cilia in the airways, making it difficult to effectively clear mucus and impurities from the lungs. This leads to frequent respiratory infections, chronic coughing, and repeated lung inflammation, which can result in serious lung tissue damage.

Why are we raising funds?

One of the key tools that could greatly ease Daniela's life is the Simeox device. This innovative device helps liquefy thick mucus in the lungs and makes it easier to remove, reducing the risk of infections and damage to the airways. This will allow Daniela to breathe better, have more energy, and focus not only on chess but also on her everyday life without constant exhaustion.

How does the Simeox work?

Simeox uses special pneumatic vibrations that create short low-pressure pulses during exhalation. These pulses help loosen mucus from even the deep parts of the lungs and move it toward the central airways, where it can be more easily coughed up. Compared to conventional methods, this therapy is less strenuous and much more effective, meaning less fatigue and greater relief for patients.

The The Our Lungs Foundation, established by Y&T Luxury Property – a real estate agency made up entirely of women, which covers all operational costs of the Naše Plíce Foundation, supports the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of lung diseases, including lung cancer and the consequences of COVID-19.

Our goal is to raise 173,030 CZK for the Simeox device, which will provide essential treatment and rehabilitation for Daniela.

We want to assure you that any funds exceeding the target amount for Daniela will automatically be used for other Our lungs Foundation campaigns, enabling us to help other children and families in need.

We would like to emphasize that the Our lungs Foundation does not keep a single penny of donor contributions. All operational costs of the foundation are fully covered by Y&T Luxury Property, ensuring that your donations go directly to specific help.
