The Salvation Army has been working for several years to develop comprehensive health care for homeless people. These people often suffer from various diseases and, unfortunately, they often cannot or do not want to seek medical help. That's why the Salvation Army feels a great need to build its own office for the poor. At present, we are trying to complete our first GP practice in Ostrava, which will be intended for homeless people, socially excluded, lonely seniors and hostels´ clients. The aim of this preventative medical care is especially the possibility to solve effectively the problem of homelessness within the complex team - doctor, nurse, social worker, street worker, as well as to improve the health condition and awareness of the health of socially excluded people, reduce the invalidity of homeless people and prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the population.
