Your financial donation will help us in our effort to preserve it for future generations. The cross once stood along the "Šluknovsko–Prague Courier Route." Today, the well-known "Trail Through Czechia" ("Stezka Českem") runs in its immediate vicinity. We want to build a relationship with the place where we live and maintain the historical character of our home. The restoration of this significant landscape feature will be a welcome opportunity for original inhabitants to meet with those who are now working to save it.
We want to restore a very significant sacred monument that was part of the village of Studený as early as 227 years ago, specifically since 1798. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, and it would be beneficial to build upon local traditions. The German population was displaced, but for the sake of belonging to the place where current residents live, it would be very valuable to restore this small monument. Based on rare, acquired, and preserved photographic documentation and the written history of the monument provided by its original inhabitants, and through joint efforts with a restorer, we want to preserve the cross and pass it on to future generations. This project has been supported by the "Místo, kde žijeme" (The Place Where We Live) program. Every crown you donate will be doubled by the Via Foundation, up to a total of CZK 20,000
