We help people with disabilities and caregivers live a dignified life
People with serious deseases or disabilities, and those who care for them at home, must not be left without support. In Czechia, there is a lack of accessible services, caregiver support, and fair funding.
Join us in changing the care system — a system that affects thousands of lives. Help the Alliance for Individualized Support.
Change won’t happen on its own. People with disabilities need allies. Become one of them.
What is the Story of the Alliance?
The Alliance is a story of connection — of bringing together many people and organizations who have rich experience with disability, serious illness, or caring for loved ones at home. The Alliance was founded both by parents of children with serious disabilities and by people with direct experience of health-related disadvantages. We unite powerful, inspiring stories of courageous individuals who, despite difficult lives and often dire financial circumstances, work together to ensure that everyone can live where they choose — without exception.
What do we do?
We advocate for better living conditions for people with serious illnesses or disabilities and their caregivers. We defend their rights, making their needs heard in legislation, national strategies, and government policy — to ensure long-term, sustainable change.
We strive for a system that is fair, compassionate, and works in everyday life. We advocate for care that makes sense, support that is accessible, and services that help people live at home.
The Alliance for Individualized Support connects nearly 60 parent associations, patient groups, and other organizations. Together, we support people with severe disabilities or illnesses — and those who care for them.
Together, we are a strong voice.
How exactly do we help?
Among other activities, we defend the rights of individual caregiving families. One example is the case of Mrs. Iva, who couldn't undergo cancer treatment because the regional authorities failed to find a day care center for her son with a serious disability. With the support of the Alliance and a lawyer, a lawsuit was filed against the Zlín Region for the lack of available services. Thanks to the lawsuit, the region secured a spot in a day care center in Zlín. As a result, the case did not go to trial, and Mrs. Iva was able to begin her treatment. But that's just one story — we do much more. Take a look at more families' stories.
Right now, we need 18 300 EUR (21 200 USD).
This amount will allow us to continue supporting community development, raising public awareness, involving people with disabilities, and maintaining sustained pressure for legislative and policy changes that ensure their respectful and independent living.
Thank you for being with us, Alliance for Individualised Support team

We’re thrilled — feeling both relief and success, not only thanks to our hard work, but above all thanks to you, who have stood by us! 6 days left in the campaign, and already 223 donors have contributed a total of 18 603 EUR! Our heartfelt thanks to all of you who believe in the purpose of our mission.
You are amazing! Just 7 days to go, 212 donors, and a total of 17 800 EUR raised. Only 718 EUR left to reach our goal! Thank you for helping us get there. TOGETHER, WE HAVE A POWERFUL VOICE.
It’s hard to believe, but time flies – and we’re rapidly approaching the end of our campaign. We’ve already raised a beautiful 14 885 EUR and are proud to have BTL Medical Development a.s. as our main sponsor. Even better, they’ve promised to double their support with a second gift of 2058 EUR, which we’ll receive on Monday! That means we have 11 days left to raise the remaining 1580 EUR to reach our goal!
We’d love to share with you some of the heartfelt messages from our donors and celebrate the joy of seeing our shared belief in this mission bear fruit. As we say in the Alliance – TOGETHER, OUR VOICE IS STRONG. Help us bring this campaign to a successful close and reach our full goal of 18 503 EUR. All it takes now is 30 to 60 small donors, or just a few larger gifts. We are deeply grateful to everyone who is with us – whether by donating, kind thoughts or simply sharing our message. You’re amazing, and we truly appreciate your trust in our work!
A heartfelt thank you to all our generous donors — already 137 of you — who have contributed a wonderful amount of 9 900 EUR! And we’re not stopping here! We still have more than 30 days to go — help us reach our goal!
What has our Alliance achieved in the meantime? Thanks to the Regional Advocacy Team for the Central Bohemian Region, which is part of our project focused on the participation of people with disabilities and caregivers in decision-making processes, the most important document for social services in the region — the Medium-Term Plan for the Development of Social Services — has been approved. Naturally, our Regional Advocacy Team at AIP was present and actively involved. Being proactive paid off: the region will now establish a participatory group for people with disabilities and caregivers. The plan has been in preparation since the beginning of the year, and our team was actively involved from the start. We took part in working groups, brought forward proposals during individual meetings with the regional authorities, commented on the final draft — and ultimately supported its approval at the regional assembly.
The region responded positively to our suggestions and included the establishment of a participatory group of service users and caregivers in the plan. This group will have the opportunity to co-create and influence how social services operate and are made accessible, and they will enter into long-term, systematic cooperation with the region.
We thank the Central Bohemian Region for its openness to participation and for the joint effort toward meaningful change. We are truly happy that our activities are having real and beneficial impacts.
Additionally, we have published a new publication titled"When Experience Becomes a System."
We're moving forward! We now have nearly 80 contributors with a total amount of almost 7000 EUR. Thank you for your support. What’s happened in the meantime? The Alliance for Individualized Support was featured in the main news broadcast on Czech Television!
The gaps in the assessment of care allowance claims made it into the main news. Czech Television presented the stories of our members and their lawsuits against the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The Alliance has long pointed out that the rights of people with disabilities are being violated during the assessment process, and their real needs are being downplayed. The granted allowance often does not reflect the actual complexity of care required—care that is most often provided by families.
A heartfelt thank you to all our donors. So far, we’ve raised a wonderful 6000 EUR, and we’re moving forward beautifully according to our plan! What are we working on in the meantime? Take a look at the outcomes from our expert conference that we organized:
How can we change the assessment of needs and financial support for people with disabilities and their caregivers?
At the June conference Individualized Support 2025, we discussed this in a panel featuring Iva Merhautová (Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs), Jakub Novák (Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic), Hana Geissler (AIP), Alena Jančíková (Czech Association of Paraplegics - CZEPA), informal caregiver Lucie Ovsenáková, and others.
We agreed that we face major challenges. The care allowance is often insufficient for a dignified life in a natural environment, Informal caregivers bear a heavy burden without adequate support, The assessment system doesn’t always reflect actual needs, And the state still does not give this area enough attention.
The panel called for these key steps:
Increase (valorize) the care allowance and introduce safeguards to prevent service costs from rising faster than benefits.
Clearly define the role of the allowance in relation to social services and caregiver compensation.
Reform the assessment system and open expert discussion on a model based on the number of hours of required care.
Develop financial and social support for caregivers.
Establish care as a budgetary priority for the state.
We thank all the panelists for an open and inspiring discussion. Together, we can achieve changes that will truly help people with disabilities and those who care for them. You can find more information and full outcomes from the panel on the AIP website.
And to all of you generous donors — thank you for helping us make this possible.
We warmly thank you for your trust and the wonderful gifts with which you support meaningful activities for caregivers and people with serious diseases and disabilities. We are thrilled that after just 16 days of the campaign, we already have 52 contributors and have raised over 5000 EUR! We'd like to share with you what lies ahead.
You are amazing! In just ten days of the campaign, we’ve had 35 contributors and raised a wonderful amount of almost 2500 EUR. We’ve even gained a main sponsor and a key partner — thank you to all of you who support us. Every contribution counts and moves us forward, giving us the energy to keep going. We truly appreciate your trust in our meaningful work!
In our upcoming updates, we’ll be sharing video stories of specific caregiving families and our future plans. But before that, let’s take one last look back at some of the other achievements our organization has accomplished.
Greetings to all our supporters, and a heartfelt thanks for the fantastic start to our campaign. There are already 15 contributors, with an incredible amount of almost 1000 EUR! We're moving forward because we believe that with our determination and your help, we will bring this campaign to a successful conclusion. So, what have we achieved so far?
